Every Soul Hides a Story

Even if I had a hundred thousand dear, close friends, I’d never get tired of meeting someone new, deeply connecting, and learning their story.

Every person’s story is different, but they all have connective tissue with every other story in existence. The similarities and differences of every tale alike are staggering, compelling, life-affirming, humbling, mystifying, and grounding.

If you were to sit down around a campfire with someone you perceive to be your greatest enemy, be they a “monster” who has committed terrible atrocities against humankind, or an old friend you had differences with that forced you to part ways, and you were to truly hear their story…

All the ins and outs of it…

All the catalysts for all the deeds…

All the traumas, and all the false teachings they were socialized under…

Every tear shed and all the gory details of every heartbreak…

As well as the moments of triumph and euphoria that were landmarks for that person’s path along the way…

If you heard it all, and truly absorbed it, and saw yourself in their eyes, and understood every commonality that exists between you…

If all of that happened and you still saw them as your enemy, then I guess I’d give you ten dollars and sign it,

“To the stubbornest old critter I know.

With perpetual love, Andrew.
